The church is the body of Christ.
The church is not the brick & mortar but the people.
As the body of Christ, we are to emulate Him.
All the directions for doing this are spelled out in His Word.
Ministry gifts: Preaching and Pastoral Ministry
I believe I proclaim the gospel in how I speak, not just at the pulpit, but in my everyday conversations. I hope this is seen not just in my audible speech, but in how I live everyday. I seek, welcome and try to gather as many as I can into the body of Christ ; the body of Christ being the church. I spend as little time as possible in the office and as much time as possible in the community.
My View of Ministry:
I’ve heard it said that the greatest coaches don’t know everything there is to know about their sport so they hire specialists to help them. For example, the coaches may have experience running the offense and very little with the defense, so he hires a defensive specialist to guide the defense, or the other way around.
As a pastor I need to know my strengths and weaknesses. I believe my strengths are preaching, visiting, praying with, loving, and serving the church in whatever capacity I can– the church being the people.
I rely on the administrative board for administering the church’s business. That does not mean I don’t know anything about administration, but it’s not my strong suit.
The bottom line is that we are all in it together and whatever we do has to bring honor and glory to God.
